Covid-19 Relief Work – 10th April 2020

The first phase of Covid-19 relief work was carried out by Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore on 10th April 2020 for 50 migrant workers. A kit containing eight items – 5 kg rice,2 kg wheat flour, 2 kg toor dal, 1kg salt, 1 kg sugar, 1 litre oil, 100 gm sambar powder and a Dettol soap was distributed to these workers. The workers stayed in different parts of Bangalore such as Jaya mahal, Benzon town, cantonment area and kit distribution was done at their respective places.

The second phase of Covid-19 relief work was carried out by Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore on 16th and 19th April 2020 for 200 needy and migrant workers. A kit containing eight items – 5 kg rice,2 kg wheat flour, 2 kg toor dal, 1kg salt, 1 kg sugar, 1 litre oil, 200 gm sambar powder and a Dettol soap was distributed, costing Rs.1,79,150/-. All received Mask and Dettol soap. As soon as they arrived, sanitizer was given to them.

Thus, a total number of 250 needy people were benefitted by this relief work, costing Rs.2,21,000/-.

On behalf of Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore, Covid-19 relief work was carried out by our Rural sub center Junjaramanahlli on 12th and 13th of April 2020. Beneficiaries are 50 families, in and around Junjaramanahlli. They received a kit containing 1 kg Toordal, 1 kg Rava, 1 kg Flattened rice, 1 kg Groundnut oil, ½ kg Chola, ½ kg Sugar, ½ Jagari and 2 kg vegetables, thus total cost Rs. 22,200/-.


Spiritual Retreat – 1st March 2020

A Spiritual Retreat was held on 1st March 2020 at Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore from 9.15 to 12.30pm. It started with Vedic Chanting by Sannyasinis and also reading from Daily thoughts & Prayers followed by meditation. Pravrajika Gitaprana welcomed speakers, devotees and also the Bhajan Party ‘Jagadhatri group’. Before starting each lecture, they sang bhajans, thus enabling a good spiritual atmosphere.

Pravrajika Chitprabhaprana spoke in Kannada on Dhyana mantras of Swami Vivekananda, dwelling deeply on the significance of each mantra. Sm. K.S. Chandra, Retd.Prinicipal of N.M.K.R.V.P.U. College for women, Jayanagar, Bangalore spoke on the subject – ‘Kalpataru Sri Ramakrishna’ in Kannada, explaining the subject in detail. Pravrajika Alokaprana, Asstt.Secretary, Matribhavan, Ramakrishna Sarada Mission. Kolkata spoke on ‘Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi – an Exemplar of the Art of Living’. She quoted a few spiritual attributes of Holy Mother and explained how it guides in every step of our life.

Lastly ended with a closing song on Divine Mother. All were spiritually benefitted. About 110 people participated and lunch was served to them all.


National Youth Day Celebrations – 14th January 2020

Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore celebrated National Youth Day on Tuesday, the 14th January 2020. The programme started with the chanting of Narayanopanishath chanting by Nivedita Vidya Peetha students. Pravrajika Chitprabhaprana welcomed the gathering and Yogatmaprana briefly narrated the life of Swami Vivekananda and about Sri Sarada Math also. Swami Vivekananda’s’ Chicago address at Parliament of Religions on 1893 is the theme of this National Youth day. Dr. Anuradha, Professor and Head of the Department of History at Maharani College, Bangalore explained the topic “Chicago Address and its effect on youth”. Students were alert and enjoyed the session.

Dr. Tejaswini, Special officer at Karnataka State Higher Education Council delivered her lecture on “Significance of Swamiji’s visit to Chicago”. It was very informative and helped to enhance their understanding deeply. In between the talks, cultural programs were held by Nivedita Vidya Peetha students. Rev.Gitaprana Mataji President, Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore distributed trophies to all participated 19 Institutions. In this celebration, 509 (198 from High Schools and 311 from Colleges) students participated from 19 schools and colleges. All participants received participant certificates and books on Swamiji. The programme ended with VANDE MATARAM. In the morning, Snacks and Badami milk was served after registration and later lunch was served to all.
