Rev. Vivekaprana Mataji’s visit – December 2016


Revered Vivekaprana Mataji, a senior Sannyasini of Sri Sarada Math and in-charge of Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, Pangot arrived at Sri Sarada Math, Bengaluru on 28th December 2016 and returned on 5th January 2017. She conducted a series of lectures on “Sri Ramakrishna – the Great Master: Understanding Mysticism through the life of Sri Ramakrishna.” She delivered lectures from 10 to 11 am and conducted discussions on the topic from 11 to 11.30 am on 30th & 31st December 2016 and on 2nd,3rd & 4th January 2017. This programme was well received and about 50 devotees attended the classes daily. These lectures can be found on the Lectures page.

Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi’s Birthday – 20th December 2016


The birthday of the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi was celebrated at Sri Sarada Math, Bengaluru on Tuesday, 20th December 2016 with due solemnity. There was special puja, chandipath, homa, vedic chanting, bhajans and discourses on the Holy Mother. Smt. Dr. V. Srimathi, Lecturer in Sanskrit, Devaraja govt. Girls P.U.College, Mysore gave a discourse on “How Holy Mother’s Life is relevant to Modern women” in Kannada and Pravrajika Gopeshaprana gave a discourse on “Holy Mother as the Mother of All” in English. Around 600 devotees took prasad throughout the day.


Nivedita Vidyapeetha Annual Day – 28th October 2016


The Annual Celebration of Nivedita Vidyapeetha, Sri Sarada Math, Bengaluru was conducted on 28th October, 2016. Along with this celebration, Sister Nivedita’s 150th birth anniversary was also observed. On this occasion, various programmes such as written test on the life and message of Sister Nivedita for Higher primary school children, drawing, recitation, mythological costumes, bhajans / patriotic songs and skit for primary children were conducted. About 663 students from 16 educational institute participated and 70 students received attractive prizes. Smt. Kalavathy K.G. presided over the function and gave prizes to children. Various interesting programmes were performed by children. Miss Roopa Ravindran gave a beautiful dance programme on ‘Shakti’ as a tribute to Sister Nivedita.

Mahalaya Amavasya was celebrated on 30th September 2016. Most Rev. Amalaprana mataji, the General Secretary of Sri Sarada Math and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, spoke on “The significance of the day Mahalaya” and explained some important aspects of Sri Sri Chandi. Visit of Most Rev. Swami Vagishanandaji Maharaj – 22nd September 2016

Lift Inauguration
Srimat Swami Vagishanandaji Maharaj, Vice President,Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna  Mission visited Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore  on 22.9.2016. On this occasion, Rev.Maharaj  inaugurated the newly installed hydraulic lift. He also kindly addressed the monastic members and the  devotees, stressing Holy Mother’s grace which is bestowed on all. He spent about one hour in the Math and expressed his joy to see the Math. About 75 devotees had assembled to receive his blessings.

 


Sri Krishna Janmashthami – 25th August 2016


Sri Krishna Janmashthami was celebrated on 25th August 2016 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. There were special bhajans and chanting of hymns on Sri Krishna by devotees. Smt. Padmasri gave a discourse on “Lord Krishna’s birth and his glory”. Around thirty three devotees attended the programme.


Guru Poornima – 19th July 2016


Guru Poornima was observed on 19th July 2016 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. There was chanting of hymns and bhajans on ‘Guru’. Pr.Chitprabhaprana spoke on ‘Guru Poornima’ in English. During the whole day, around 100 devotees visited the Math.

Buddha Poornima was celebrated on 21st May 2016 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. There was a discourse on the life and teachings of Buddha bhagavan by Pr.Gopeshprana. Hymns and bhajans on Sri Buddha were sung by devotees. About 45 devotees were present in this occasion.

 

 

 

 


Sri Shankar Jayanti – 11th May 2016

Sri Shankar Jayanti was celebrated on 11th May 2016 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. There was a discourse on the life and teachings of Sri Shankaracharya by Rev.Adityaprana mataji. Bhajans and hymns on Sri Shankar were sung by devotees. About 33 devotees took part in this function.


Sri Ramanavami – 15th April 2016

Sri Ramanavami was celebrated on 15th April 2016 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. The programme was started with Ramanama Sankeertan and followed by various bhajans by devotees on Sri Rama. About 50 devotees attended this function.


Spiritual Retreat – March 20th 2016

A spiritual retreat was conducted on Sunday, 20th March 2016 at Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore from 9:15am to 3:30pm. The retreat started with vedic chanting, reading from Daily Thoughts and Prayers and meditation. Pravrajika Yogatmaprana welcomed the speakers and devotees. Sri Jagaddhatri group sang bhajans. Speakers Dr.(Smt) Arati, Director of Vibhu Foundation, Rev.Pravrajika Atandraprana Mataji, Asst. Secretary of Sri Sarada Math and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission and Pravrajika Adityaprana Mataji of Bengaluru Sri Sarada Math spoke on Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and Sri Ramakrishna respectively. Pravrajika Yogatmaprana gave vote of thanks to speakers and devotees. This session was ended with a hymn on Devi. After lunch, a Hindi video on ‘Sant Janabai’ was shown. Afterwards, tea and biscuits were served to all. About 130 devotees participated in this retreat.


Mahashivaratri – March 7th 2016

Mahashivaratri was celebrated on 7th March 2016 at Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore from 7:00pm to 10:30pm. It started with pooja. Bhajans and hymns on Lord Shiva were sung by devotees. Shiva’s temple in the pond was open for public from morning till night for worship.


Sri Ramakrishna’s Birthday Celebration – March 10th 2016

Sri Ramakrishna’s birthday was celebrated on 10th March 2016,Thursday at Sri Sarada math,Bengaluru with special puja, homa, chanting of Vishnu Sahasranam and discourses on the life and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna. The Gospel Of Sri Ramakrishna was read by Pravrajika Gopeshaprana. Smt. Nirmala spoke about Sri Ramakrishna and Women Power. It was followed by Bhogarathi and distribution of prasad. About 300 people were present in this function.


Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday – January 31st 2016

The 153rd birthday of Srimat Swami Vivekananda was celebrated at Sri Sarada Math Bengaluru on Sunday, 31st January, 2016 with due solemnity. There was special puja, homa, Vedic chanting, bhajans and discourses on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Smt. Manjula, lecturer in SRN Adarsh College, Bangalore spoke on Indian Women and Swamiji. Pravrajika Poornatmaprana spoke on the role of Shakti aspect in the life of Swami Vivekananda.


National Youth Day- January 12th 2016

The National Youth Day was duly observed on January 20th, 2016, at Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore. About 550 students from 16 educational institutions & 50 teachers, devotees and volunteers participated in the event. After the registration of students, students had breakfast and then followed in the neighbourhood of Sri Sarada Math, Bengaluru. Chanting various slogans from Swami Vivekananda’s message, the girls imbibed strength from the messages and spread awareness about the messages at the same time. This was followed by the quiz conducted on Swamiji’s life and teachings from the book Call to the Nation by Smt Chandra Rtd, Principal of NMKRV College Bengaluru as coordinator. Students from different colleges performed skits & participated in elocution competition on the topic, “Use of Electronic gadgets by Youth, and its impact in the light of Swami Vivekananda’s Vision of India”. Smt.Anuradha, Head of the department of History of the Maharani College gave her concluding speech on the same topic with the power point presentation. Prizes were distributed for the best performances in the various events conducted during the day. There was free distribution of Sister Nivedita’s books to all the participating students and teachers. All participants were fed sumptuously with both breakfast and lunch.


Holy Mother’s Birthday – January 1st 2016

The birthday of the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi was celebrated at Sri Sarada Math, Bengaluru on Friday, 1st January 2016 with due solemnity. There was special puja, chandipath, homa, Vedic chanting, bhajans and discourses on the Holy Mother. In the book “The Master As I Saw Him”, Sister Nivedita writes regarding Holy Mother: “To me it has always appeared that she is Sri Ramakrishna’s final word as to the ideal of Indian womanhood. But is she the last of an old order, or the beginning of a new ?”. Smt. Mangalakumari gave a discourse on this topic in English and Pravrajika Yogatmaprana gave a discourse on this topic in Kannada. Around 700 devotees took prasad throughout the day.
