Christmas Eve – December 24th 2015

ChristmasEveOn 24th December 2015, Christmas eve was celebrated by reading from “The Sermon On the Mount”, singing bhajans & carols.


Rev. Vivekaprana Mataji’s Visit – December 2015

Rev.Vivekaprana Mataji arrived Bangalore on 13th December 2015 and conducted a series of lectures from 14th to 19th December 2015, for 6 days on “Aparokshanubhuti” of Sri Shankaracharya. She delivered lectures for an hour, followed by discussions. About 50 devotees took participation in this programme. It was well received by most of them.


Distribution of Solar lamps – October 2015

Rev. Amalaprana Mataji visited Junjaramanahalli on 13th October and distributed Solar Lamps to the students there. Rev. Mataji also distributed lamps to the students studying in Nivedita Vidya Peetha, Bengaluru. Altogether 90 lanterns were distributed in both the places.


Mahalaya Amavasya – 12th October 2015

Mahalaya Amavasya was celebrated on 12th October 2015. Most Rev. Amalaprana mataji, the General Secretary of Sri Sarada Math and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, spoke on “Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi in the light of Sri Sri Chandi”. Rev. Amalaprana Mataji released the Kannada translation of the book “Sister Nivedita”, Torch Bearer Series – 2 on this auspicious day. About 300 devotees attended the function.


Sri Ganesh Chaturthi – 17th September 2015

Sri Ganesh chaturthi was celebrated on 17th September 2015, in the Nivedita Vidya Peeth school, Bengaluru. Around 100 students, alumni, teachers and devotees participated in the celebration, offered pushpanjali and took prasad. The idol was immersed on 18th September in the pond located in the Math premises.


Sri Krishna Janmashtami – 5th September 2015

Sri Krishna Janmashthami was celebrated on 5th September 2015 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. There were special Bhajans and chanting of hymns on Sri Krishna by devotees. Smt. Padmasri gave a discourse on “Lord Krishna’s birth and the significance of His advent”. Around fifty devotees attended the programme.


Spiritual Retreat – 2nd August 2015

A spiritual Retreat took place on 2nd August 2015 from 9:30am to 12:00noon.The programme began with Sri Lalita Sahasra Nama chanting, reading from ‘Daily Thoughts and Prayers’ and Japa. Rev.Jnanadaprana Mataji, Asst. Secretary of Sri Sarada Math & Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, from Kolkata spoke on ‘Sarada Movement’. This was followed by Question & Answer Session. Then bhajans were sung for about half an hour. About 140 devotees participated and took Anna Prasad.


Guru Poornima – 31st July 2015

Guru Poornima was observed on 31st July 2015 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. About 100 devotees attended the programme. There was chanting of hymns and bhajans on ‘Guru’. Rev. Jnanadaprana Mataji, Asst. Secretary of Sri Sarada Math & Ramakrishna Sarada Mission from Kolkata spoke on ‘Guru Cult’ in English. Pravrajika Adityaprana from Bengaluru Math spoke on ‘Mantra Diksha’ in Kannada. On this auspicious occasion, Rev. Jnanadaprana Mataji released the Kannada translation of “Sister Christine And Sister Sudhira”, Torch Bearer Series – 3.


Akshaya Tritiya – 21st April 2015

Akshaya Tritiya was celebrated on 21st April 2015. The programme started with the “Chandi Path” at 7:30am. This was followed by “Sri Sri Lalita Sahasranama” chanting, a lecture on Holy Mother and Bhajans. About 75 devotees attended this function.


Summer Camp : 1st April – 11th April 2015

A summer camp was conducted for class 4th to P.U.C students from April 1st to 11th at Nivedita Vidya Peetha, Sri Sarada Math, Bengaluru. Classes on Vedic Chanting, Bhajans, Paper craft, drawing, knitting, moral lessons and personality development were conducted by monastic members and eminent scholars in the respective fields. Videos on the lives of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda were shown.

On 11th April, the last day of the summer camp, the art and craft work done by the children were displayed. Children chanted Upanishads and sang bhajans learnt in the summer camp. Prizes were distributed for the best performers in all categories. Around 70 students participated in the camp.


Dol Poornima / Holi – 5th March 2015

Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s Janma Tithi  was celebrated at Math on 5th March Thursday from 4:40 pm to 6:00 pm. Pravrajika Tyaganishtaprana gave a discourse on the life and teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. This was followed by bhajans on Sri Krishna and Sri Chaitanya. About 40 devotees attended the function.


Spiritual Retreat – 1st March 2015

A spiritual retreat was held on Sunday, 1st March 2015 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. It started with Vedic Chanting by Brahmacharinis of the Math and was followed by Bhajans from Sri Jagaddhatri group for half an hour. Discourses on “Women Empowerment'” and “Matre Bhav Prachar / Propagation of the Divinity of Motherhood” were given from 10.15 am to 12.00 pm. Kum. Swarnagouri of Mysore and Pravrajika Adityaprana of the Math spoke in Kannada. Smt.Anuradha, Lecturer of Maharani College spoke in English.

Lunch was served to all attendees. In the afternoon, a video show entitled “Oneness – Voice without Form”, a play on the extraordinary life of Swami Vivekananda was shown. About 127 devotees attended the retreat.


Sri Ramakrishna Tithi pooja – 20th February 2015

The birthday of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Deva was celebrated at Sri Sarada Math, Bengaluru on 20th February 2015 with due solemnity. There was special puja, homa, Vedic chanting and bhajans. Smt. Bhavani Mukherjee spoke on the significance of Sri Ramakrishna’s advent and his ideals. Pr.Yogatmaprana gave a lecture on the meaning of the Kathamruta and also she read some portion from the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna in Kannada. Prasad was distributed to about 400 people.


Most Rev. Ajayapranaji’s visit (23rd January – 5th February 2015)

Rev. Ajayaprana Mataji arrived at Bangalore on 23rd January evening. During her stay, she met many earnest seekers, old devotees & friends. She gave two lectures, one at Math on 25th morning and another at Sri Sarada Kutir at Ranga Rao Road, Basavanagudi, Bangalore on 26th morning on its Foundation day. She spoke on the messages of the Holy Trinity. She initiated spiritual seekers on 30th & 31st January.

She left to Chikmagalur on 1st of February and stayed there till 4th morning. Here also she met devotees and friends and inspired them to lead their life along the spiritual path as shown by Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and Swami Vivekananda. She stressed the need of Swamiji’s message to the youth and visited the Engineering College of Adichunchanagiri Math. There she spoke on Science & Vedanta which students listened attentively on 3rd morning. On 3rd afternoon, she addressed the Nursing students and class eleven students of Amber Valley. Altogether more than 400 students were benefitted by her inspiring lectures. Books on Swami Vivekananda were also distributed to the students.

Rev. Mataji left to Trivandrum on 5th morning. She bestowed her grace on whoever visited her lovingly and with earnest prayer to the Almighty.


Book Release of “Tapaswini Mataji Gangabai” – 21st January 2015

The Kannada translation of the English book, “Tapaswini Mataji,GANGA BAI”, Torch Bearer Series: 1, has been released on 21st January 2015. The English version of the book was published by Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, Dakshineswar, Kolkata on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.


National Youth Day – 17th January 2015

National Youth Day was celebrated by Nivedita Vidya Peetha on 17th January 2015. Over 550 girls from 16 educational institutions participated in the event. The day started off with a procession in the neighborhood of Sri Sarada Math, Bengaluru. Chanting various slogans from Swami Vivekananda’s message, the girls imbibed strength from the messages and spread awareness about the messages at the same time. This was followed by skits and elocution competitions. Children from different schools performed skits on the topic of “Morality – Why is this necessary for students’ life ? What did Swami Vivekananda say about morality ?”. Children from colleges expressed their viewpoints through elocution on the topic of “Shraddha – Why is this essential ?”. Prizes were distributed for the best performances in the various events conducted during the day. There was free distribution of books on life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda to all the participating students and teachers. All participants were fed sumptuously with both breakfast and lunch.


Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday – 12th January 2015

The birthday of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated at Sri Sarada Math, Bengaluru on 12th January 2015 with due solemnity. There was special puja, homa, Vedic chanting, bhajans and readings from the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Prasad was distributed to about 350 people.


 

Holy Mother’s Birthday – 13th December 2014

The birthday of the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi was celebrated at Sri Sarada Math, Bengaluru on Saturday, 13th December 2014 with due solemnity. There was special puja, chandipath, homa, Vedic chanting, bhajans and discourses on the Holy Mother. Prasad was distributed to about 800 people. On this auspicious occasion, the Kannada translation of the English book, Pravrajika Bharatiprana, Torch Bearer Series: 5, was released. The English version of the book was published by Ramakrishna  Sarada Mission, Dakshineswar, Kolkata on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
